She was embarrassed that she was blushing over something like this, which made her feel a little stupid and girly. “I- uh, I don’t know! I wouldn’t have really cared if you were joking to be honest, but… I don’t know,” she really didn’t know what to say. Now, she was trying her best to hide her smile. She bit down on her lip once more, preventing it from showing. Peyton’s never really been this shy around someone and it felt extremely weird. Her heart was beating abnormally faster than usual and it was difficult making eye contact after what he had said.
“Well regardless of what you’re known for, you’re still awesome to me,” she lightly laughed trying to ignore the fact that he had just called her cute. School must have been out. A bunch of students from Lakeview began to crowd around the area. “Um, yes,” she responded with no hesitation. Before standing up she put on her flip flops. Standing up, she offered a hand to Blaise. She quickly called for Leo while his little legs sprinted towards her. She lifted him up holding him close towards her.
The walk to the 7-11 wasn’t too bad. As they left the lake, passing by the people that were just arriving from school, Blaise nodded and waved to a few people here and there. Some were friends, others were acquaintances and some were just people who talked to him for the sole reason of buying weed from him. Most of them passed by with a smile but there were a small few, Blaise noticed, who took extra time to gaze at how close Blaise was keeping beside Peyton and the looks on their faces showed just how surprised some of them were.
Once they were on the street again, turning to the left and heading towards the convenience store that was already in plain sight in front of them, Blaise turned his head towards Peyton to start another conversation. “Do you remember the first time we were on the same team in Gym?” he asked, the memory popping into his head with sudden clarity.
